As the year winds down and the season of gratitude arrives, we want to take a moment to say thank you. For giving, for riding, for hiking, for reading - however you’ve shown up, whatever you’ve offered, it has been noticed and appreciated. You are a vital part of our community, contributing in your own unique ways.
Oftentimes, the term “community” is reserved for those who walk beside you or offer their time. But in truth, community is reserved for any and all who are aligned in the work and offer what they have. Some people work here, some people bring their kids, some offer their time, and others open their wallets. From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs. That is the nature of collective work. And we want to thank each and every one of you for showing up however you saw fit.
In the heart of our endeavors lie the trails, the very veins of our shared passion. This year, we proudly advanced our mission, with 12 miles of trails now open or in progress, and Old Fort has blossomed alongside our efforts, welcoming 13 new businesses. This progress, a narrative of unity, is woven by the hands of G5, Pisgah Productions, and Tanawha Adventures. These trails and the exhilarating races drawing 4,480 spirited registrations are celebrations of our joint commitment to the land and community.
Our volunteers, all 275 of you, have been the lifeblood of this journey, dedicating 3,000 hours in 2023 alone. Each of the 36 trail work days this year has been a testament to what we can achieve together.
As we look to 2024 and beyond, we extend our deepest gratitude for your support and involvement. Your participation, volunteering, and financial contributions have been crucial in preserving and enhancing the natural beauty that surrounds us. Together, we are conserving land, and we are nurturing a legacy for future generations.
