The mountains of Western North Carolina are special. They're home to incredible landmarks like Table Rock and Linville Gorge, Grandfather Mountain, Catawba Falls, Looking Glass Rock, Black Balsam, and so many more.

These mountains have also been home to humans for more than 10,000 years. Since humans arrived we've been walking through these hardwood forests and making trails and paths that connect these landmarks and other important places like hunting grounds and villages. There's something elemental about trails. They've been essential to our existence and survival.

Today, trails are still essential to our survival but for different reasons. They connect us to these landmarks and provide access for recreation which is vital for our health and well being. The G5 was created to build upon this historic legacy of trails because we love these mountains, we love moving through them, and we want to make sure they are accessible for many generations to come.
