ABOUT THE PROJECT
onX Maps and Toyota have partnered with the G5 Trail Collective for a teamwork-powered trail restoration project in Old Fort, North Carolina. The project will bring businesses, individuals, nonprofits, public agencies and local community groups together to restore sections of the popular Gateway Trails that sustained significant damage during Hurricane Helene. This event is an expansion of onX Offroad and Toyota’s Trail Revival Project —a nationwide community-driven, club-led initiative dedicated to ensuring public land access is preserved long into the future. Trail Revival Project events invite volunteers to clear trees and debris, repair and maintain trail infrastructure, and help restore and protect the spaces communities depend on for outdoor recreation. Additional funding for the G5 Trail Revival Project was provided by Outdoor Recreation Roundtable, as part of their Rebuilding and Recovery Micro-Grant Program, a targeted effort to aid the restoration of outdoor recreation assets in communities impacted by Hurricane Helene last fall.

9:00–10:00 AM – Meet at the new Gateway Trailhead parking lot for welcome, briefing, and team assignments

10:00 AM–12:00 PM – Morning trail work projects

12:30–1:30 PM – Catered lunch on site, a few words from community leaders & stakeholders, and top-notch giveaways

2:00–4:00 PM – Afternoon trail work projects

5:00 PM–Until – After-party celebration and creek swim at the Gateway Trailhead
No prior trail work experience is required, just a willingness to join us in the spirit of collaboration and community. Please wear long pants, closed toed shoes, gloves, and safety glasses/sunglasses. If you plan to stay for the after-party, we recommend bringing a swimsuit, towel and water shoes.
