Start out the 2026 New Year in PISGAH volunteering with G5 Trail Collective for the First Friday of the Month. Our project will be on the iconic Lower Heartbreak Ridge Trail. Meet other trail folks and have fun volunteering for public lands!

About the event
We're looking for volunteers to help with trail maintenance projects on the First Friday of each month, in the First National Forest in the East. Join G5 for First Fridays in the Grandfather District! Hang out in historic Old Fort for a bite and beverage after, or make it a weekend and get back out on the trails!
Lower Heartbreak has been closed since Helene, but we're getting close to being able to open it to the public again. Come help us get it ready to ride/hike again.
Work Day Objectives:
Bushing back the trail corridor for safer lines of sight and a less bush whacky recreation experience.
Steeper grade trails require many drainage features and regular cleanings to remove sediment and debris. All for greater trail sustainability as water sheds across the trail and continues down the mountain with minimal erosion.
